Engineering physics
The main aim of education at this programme (engineering programmes) is to make students familiar with experimental physics and its theoretical background so that they could understand functioning and construction of modern research and technological devices applied in various areas of technology, medicine and other fields of human practical activity. Graduates of this programme can be employed in professions requiring skills in using advanced modern equipment or information technology.
The study programme includes classic basic fields of physics and a course in mathematics. These courses are complemented with mastering engineering skills, namely technical drawing, engineering graphics, elements of electronics, electrotechnology and automatics as well as familiarizing with rudiments of economic aspect of running business activities. Such courses provide students with opportunities to understand physical principles of functioning, construction and programming modern devices used in research and industrial laboratories, in medical diagnosis and therapy as well as in environmental protection and radioactive protection. During the programme students will have an opportunity to use such computer software used by engineers as: AutoCad, MathCad, LabView, MatLab. Knowledge and skills acquired by students are the foundation for acquiring various professional qualifications also after graduating from the university. This supports students' professional mobility.
The programme lasts 7 semesters and is completed with awarding an engineer diploma. Undergraduates are prepared to undertake graduate (second-cycle) programmes in physics or other selected technology-related programmes.
