Cognitive science
Students are covered with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
Cognitive science explains human cognition (perception, memory, understanding, reasoning, language skills, problem solving, intelligence, etc.) within terms of philosophy, neurophysiology, psychology. Simultaneously cognition science allows to create artificial (computer) systems with such features (AI). We offer candidates with courses including among others the following topics:
- language and sign: ways of communication, cognizing the world and creating its image as well as
- creating 'artificially intelligent' systems using a language and signs. Students are provided with an opportunity to co-create programme curriculum according to their individual needs and tutors will support students in making their decisions. Such a system provides students with an opportunity to choose one of the following 'educational pathways:'
- Artificial intelligence and logics
- Sign, language and communication
Selected courses will be delivered in English. Moreover, we offer our students with one-term and one-year trips within LLP-Erasmus scholarship programme and, concurrently, contact with researchers working in foreign research centres.
Undergraduates may be employed in IT sector (thanks to being familiar with programming languages, skills in administering computer networks or operating systems), mass-media, advertising or PR agencies. In general they may get jobs requiring creativity and skills in shaping opinions and principles of communication. The acquired knowledge and skills allow undergraduates to undertake work in areas requiring having analytical skills, English language skills as well as team-working skills. Undergraduates may continue their education on graduate (2nd cycle) programme in cognitive science or related fields of science.
