Dutch

The program in Dutch has a distinct emphasis on cultural studies. Apart from the extensive Dutch language course for beginners (practical use, descriptive grammar, translation), the program encompasses courses providing graduates with the best cultural competence and interpretative tools for wide-ranging analyses of the Dutch-speaking countries: Belgium/Flanders, the Netherlands, and the Antilles as well as old Dutch colonies such as Surinam (old Dutch Guiana).

Dutch Philology studies are conducted by the Department of Dutch Language and Literature - the only one faculty in the northern and eastern Poland. The study program of  first and second level is implemented in Dutch.

At each stage of study, students have opportunity to choose from a variety of additional specializations offered by KUL, for example: text editor specialization and translatologic specialization, offered by the Institute of Polish Philology.

In second degree studies, students are able to choose the specialization Dutch-communication in business.

Competencies acquired during study:

  • knowledge of the Dutch-countries culture and history 
  • free use of the Dutch language in speech and writing
  • translations, also in business language
