Slavic Studies

The program’s graduates have knowledge of basic methodologies of philological research and the language, literature and culture of the selected country as well as skills allowing for practical application of this knowledge. Graduates will know intermediate Russian and one western language and possess basic knowledge of information technologies, which provides them with better career opportunities. The program’s graduates can find employment in tourism as well as publishing houses, companies, and local government units cooperating with Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.

Slavic philology studies include:

  • rich educational offer in terms of culture, language, history and literature of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus, a high level of training under the guidance of experienced, sympathetic academic staff and native speakers;
  • intensive teaching of Russian and Ukrainian languages, with possibility to improve your language skills within the framework of foreign travel;
  • scholarships, exchanges and internships in foreign research centers within the ERASMUS program (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tallinn, Riga, Olomouc, Bryansk, Milan, Ternopil, Drohobych, Lviv), as well as in the framework of agreements with partner universities in Russia and Ukraine: The Pushkin State Russian Language Institute in Moscow, State Pedagogical University of Drohobych, Bryansk State University.

Competencies acquired during study:

  • culture, language and literature of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus
  • teaching Russian and Ukrainian and perform specialized translation
  • Polish-Russian business terminology and customs, including the conduct of business negotiations
